Private Piano Lessons in Chicago
Classical Piano for Beginners through Adults
Preparatory and Community Piano Program at Concordia University, Chicago
The most important thing I can do for any of my students is to show them the joy that can come from making music. From the very first lesson, I strive to bring out creativity and individual expression in my students. At the same time, I want them to experience a sense of real accomplishment. To that end, I strive to maintain a positive and affirming atmosphere in each lesson, that provides students with the resources and guidance to develop not just skill, but musicality. My goal is to help my students not only play well, but to enjoy playing and to set them on path toward a lifelong love of music.
I have many years of experience teaching students of all ages and backgrounds: from elementary-aged beginners to master’s-level music majors, to adult beginners and accomplished amateurs. I’m able to offer my students well-rounded instruction that includes creativity and musicality as well as solid technique, ear training, and music fundamentals. I hold a Master’s in Piano from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Ph.D. in Composition from Michigan State University.
